Rice cooker rava kichadi recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Rava - 2 cup
  2. Curry leaf - 10 count
  3. Coriander leaf - for garnish
  4. Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Thinly Sliced onion - 1 big
  6. Thinly sliced tomato - 2
  7. Slit green chili - 4 or 5
  8. Garlic - 10 cloves
  9. Bay leaf - 2
  10. Fennel seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  11. Oil - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  12. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Heat oil in rice cooker. Now add bay leaf, fennel seed and sauté.
  2. Now add garlic and sauté.
  3. Now add sauté onion + curry leaf.
  4. Now add tomato, green chili, turmeric powder and sauté.
  5. Now add 4 cup of water, salt. Cover and cook until it boils well.
  6. Now add rava little by little and mix. NOTE: Make sure no lumps.
  7. Now cover the rice cooker and switch to keep warm mode.
  8. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until kichadi is cooked. Now add coriander leaf mix well and then serve.

NOTES:

  1. Cooking time: 15 minutes
  2. Goes well with sambar, coconut chutney.
