INGREDIENTS:

  1. Sevai - 200 grams packet
  2. Lemon juice - 1/4 cup
  3. Mustard seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  4. Split black gram - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Slit green chili - 2
  6. Dry chili - 2
  7. Curry leaf - little
  8. Cashew nut - 4
  9. Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  10. Shredded coconut - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  11. Asafoetida powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  12. Oil - as needed
  13. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Rehydrate the sevai by adding hot water until they immerse. Keep it aside for 5 minutes then drain all the liquid.
  2. In a pan heat oil. add mustard seeds, split black gram, dry chili. once the mustard seeds stop splattering. add green chili, cashew nut, curry leaves and sauté until the curry leaves stop splattering.
  3. Now add shredded coconut, turmeric powder, asafoetida powder, salt, lemon juice. Mix well and cook until the oil starts to separate.
  4. Now add the rehydrated sevai sauté for few minutes until the sevai is coated well then serve.

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with chutney, thuvaiyal.
