INGREDIENTS:

  1. Pigeon pea - 200 grams
  2. Chopped Onion - 1
  3. Tomato - 50 grams
  4. Chopped garlic - 2 clove
  5. Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Cumin powder - 1 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Shredded Ginger - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Asafoetida powder - a pinch
  9. Oil - as needed
  10. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Pressure cook the pigeon pea, turmeric powder, asafoetida powder for 3 to 5 whistle.
  2. Release the pressure and cook for 5 minutes or until the dal it become thick consistency.
  3. In a separate pan heat oil. sauté onion, tomato until they are cooked 3/4th. Now add cumin powder, ginger, garlic and sauté them. Now add this, salt to dal.

NOTES:

  1. if you like to you can squeeze lemon juice as well.
