Roasted gram chutney recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Roasted gram - 1/2 cup
  2. Grated coconut - 1 1/2 cup
  3. Shallot (sambar vengayam) - 4
  4. Green chili - 4
  5. Ginger - 1 inch
  6. -- For tempering --
    1. Oil - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
    2. Mustard seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    3. Cumin seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
    4. Split black gram - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
    5. Curry leaf - 6
  7. Salt - to taste

PREPARATION:

  1. Grind roasted gram, coconut, shallot, ginger, salt to taste into a fine thick paste by adding little water as possible.
  2. In a pan heat oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, split bengal gram once it start to splatter add curry leaves and sauté for couple of minutes and add to the roasted gram chutney and mix well serve.

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with idly, dosai, pongal.
