INGREDIENTS:

  1. Blanched roasted peanut - 3/4 cup
  2. Shredded coconut - 1/4 cup
  3. Dry chili - 3 or to your spice level
  4. Tamarind - little
  5. Mustard seed - 3/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Spit black gram - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Curry leaves - a sprig
  8. Oil - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Salt - to taste

PREPARATION:

  1. Grind peanuts, coconut, dry chili, tamarind and salt with little water first. then add water as needed and grind them to a smooth paste (chutney consistency)
  2. In a pan heat oil. add mustard seeds when they star to splutter. Add split black gram, curry leaves.
  3. Once the curry leaves stop splattering add this to the ground paste (chutney) and serve.

NOTES:

  1. if you are using raw peanut roast them and remove its skin to some extent.
  2. Goes well with idli, dosai, upma.
