Onion chutney recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Onion - 1
  2. Tomatoes - 1
  3. Mustard Seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
  4. Split black gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
  5. Shredded Coconut - 1 tablespoon (tbsp)
  6. Sesame Oil or Nalla Ennai - 2 teaspoon (tsp)
  7. Hot chili powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
  8. Asafoetida powder - a pinch
  9. Salt - to taste
  10. Curry leaves (optional) - 10

PREPARATION:

  1. Cut onion, tomatoes into fine pieces.
  2. Heat 1 table spoon oil in a pan, add 1/2 table spoon mustard seed, Split black gram and cook until the mustard seed splatter.
  3. Now add the cut onion, tomatoes, coconut. Stir and cook until the tomatoes and onions are cooked.
  4. Now add hot chili powder, Asafoetida . Stir and cook for 2-3 min remove from heat.
  5. Grind this mixture into a fine paste.
  6. Heat rest of the oil in the pan, add the rest of the mustard seed, curry leaves and cook until the mustard seed splatter.
  7. Now pour this over the fine paste or chutney and serve.
