Whole green gram vadai recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Whole green gram (Mung bean) - 1 cup
  2. Finely chopped onion - 2
  3. Finely chopped green chili - 2
  4. Garlic - 3 clove
  5. Finely chopped curry leaves - from 2 stem or 10
  6. Salt - as needed
  7. Oil - to deep fry

PREPARATION:

  1. Soak green gram in water for 5 hours. Drain all the liquid. Grind soaked green gram, garlic, salt as needed into a coarse dough.
  2. Now add the onion, green chili, curry leaves to the green gram dough and mix well.
  3. -- Making Vadai --
    1. Heat oil (to check if the oil is hot enough to drop the vadai, add a small pinch of dough, if it raises to the surface immediately, then that is the right stage to fry the vada1).
    2. Take a small lemon sized ball of the mix, flatten it with your hands and gently slip it into the oil.
    3. Keep in medium heat and fry the vadai both sides till golden brown and crisp.
    4. Repeat the same procedure for the rest of the mix
  4. Healthy green gram vadai is ready to served.

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with tea or coffee
