Nethili meen (anchovies) curry recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Nethili meen (Anchovies fish) - 10
  2. Chopped onion - 3 small
  3. Chopped tomato - 4
  4. Chopped Brinjal (Eggplant) - 4
  5. Chopped drumstick - 1
  6. Cut potato - 3
  7. Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.) or as needed
  8. Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.) or as needed
  9. Chili powder - 2 teaspoon (tsp.) or as needed
  10. Tamarind - 1 lemon size.
  11. -- For Tempering --
    1. Cumin seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
    2. Fenugreek seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
    3. Fennel seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  12. Sesame oil - 3 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  13. Salt - to taste

PREPARATION:

  1. Soak tamarind in a cup of water and get a think juice.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan, add the cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and fennel seeds and wait until they start to splatter.
  3. Now add the onions, curry leaf and cook until onion turns golden brown.
  4. Now add the tomatoes and cook until oil separates.
  5. Now add the brinjal, drumstick, potato and sauté well.
  6. Now add the tamarind juice, turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, salt to taste and mix well.
  7. Now bring this to boil until the raw smell is gone and the vegetables are cooked well.
  8. Now add the Nethili meen (Anchovies fish) cook for 5 min and serve.
