Salem chicken kuzhambu recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Chicken pieces - 1/2 kilogram
  2. Chopped Onion - 1/4 kilogram
  3. Chopped Tomato - 3
  4. Ginger paste - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  5. Garlic paste - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  6. Garam masala powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Black pepper powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Cumin seed powder - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Fennel seed powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  10. Chili powder - 3 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  11. Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.) + 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  12. Salt - 2 teaspoon (tsp.) + 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  13. Oil - 1/4 cup
  14. Lemon - 1/2

PREPARATION:

  1. Grind 1/2 chopped onion, tomato into a fine paste.
  2. To the chicken pieces add turmeric powder, lemon juice from 1/2 lemon, salt. Mix well and marinate the chicken for 30 minutes. Now wash the chicken and drain all the liquid.
  3. In a pan heat oil. Now add the garam masala powder, onion, curry leaves and sauté until the onion turns translucent.
  4. Now add the chicken pieces and cook until they are sautéed.
  5. Now add the ginger and garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell is gone.
  6. Now add the turmeric powder, black pepper powder, cumin seed powder, fennel seed powder, chili powder, salt to taste and sauté for a minute.
  7. Once the chicken pieces is well coated with masala. Add the ground onion tomato paste and bring to boil. cook this kuzhambu oil starts to separate and serve. NOTE: if you need more curry add water as needed say about 1 cup.
