Ragi kozhukattai recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Finger millet (Ragi) flour - 1 cup
  2. Spit green gram - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  3. Shredded coconut - 1/2 cup
  4. Shredded jaggery - 1/2 cup
  5. Cardamom - 3
  6. Oil - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)

PREPARATION:

  1. Dry roast the Ragi flour until it starts to smell.
  2. Dry roast the split green gram until they turn golden brown.
  3. In a pan add 1/4 cup of water, 2 teaspoon (tsp.) of oil and bring to boil NOTE: Make sure all the jaggery is dissolved. Now filter this in a coffee strainer.
  4. Heat the filtered jaggery until it becomes solid. 
  5. Now add little flour at a time and mix until a thick dough is formed.
  6. Now add the shredded coconut, roasted green gram, crushed cardamom and mix well for 2 more minutes and remove the dough from stove.
  7. Now make small balls out of the dough when its warm.
  8. Steam these balls in idli pan for 10 minutes and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Healthy snack is ready.
